La sun is an endeavor that combines an inimitable musical approach with the countless individual experiences of the people who come in contact with that music.

The playing heard in this work is that of the guitarist known as Steve Nickel,
and demonstrated herein are the infinite possibilities of that musical instrument known as the guitar.
Steve journeyed alone to the United States when he was age of 15.
He played guitar on the streets of San Francisco then, and came into contact
will all kinds of music. On returning to Japan in 1988,
he wandered throughout the country and participated in sessions with a wide variety of artists.
He was also active organizing a large number of bands and other music projects.
In 2002, Steve went to Europe, and during this time he began developing the new musical concepts that are realized on this album.
What is particularly remarkable is that all the sounds in this work are produced using only one guitar, in real time, exactly as they are during a live performance.
While the music of Steve Nickel has many layers,
La sun is the fruit of that music,
and the artist himself regards this solo project as his lifework.

本作で聴ける演奏はすべてギタリスト・Steveひとりの手、

一本のギターから紡ぎ出されたものであり、
ギターという楽器の無限の可能性を証明するものとなっている。



Steveは15歳で単身渡米。

サンフランシスコの路上でギターを弾き様々な音楽に触れた。

1988年の帰国後は日本国内を放浪しながら、
様々なアーティストとのセッションに参加する一方で
インプロビゼーション色の濃い多数のバンド、ユニットを率いた。

2002年の欧州放浪時に得た着想が今回の

La sunというソロユニットに結実された。

特筆すべきは本作で聴ける音をそのままライブで、
全ての音をリアルタイムで出しながら

たった一本のギターで再現することだ。

彼の音楽は様々なレイヤーを持つが、
その幅広い音楽性の粋をあつめたのがLa sunであり、
彼自身このソロユニットをライフワークと位置づけている。
